Canterbury Golf Club

img_6721_400Canterbury Golf Club’s bar and restaurant manager is 21-year-old Aaron Harlow (right), who has been with the club for almost two years.

Aaron has lived in Canterbury all his life. After attending the Geoffrey Chaucer School, he studied catering at Thanet College before starting work in the brasserie at the County Hotel (now Abode) in the city.

He moved on to become supervisor at the Falstaff Hotel before joining the golf club in November2007.

Aaron also boasts the distinction of having worked for two days at Windsor Castle when the Queen was in residence, hosting groups of politicians and overseas dignitaries.

He envisages no great changes for the time being but says he is always happy to respond to suggestions from customers.

“I just want people to be able to relax and enjoy the service and the environment and we will do all we can to make this happen,” he says.

Julien (below, right) comes to the club with a wealth of experience gained in France, where he trained for seven years, and more recently in England.

Born in Burgundy, Julien, who is 28, attended catering college in his home town and in Paris.

He is keen to give Canterbury members the kind of cuisine they like and intends to introduce a new menu in the near future:

"I need to know from the customers what they want. They are most welcome to contact me direct or to speak to members of the waiting staff.

"I want the prices to be more acceptable and I can reassure everyone that the food will be fresh. Everything will be made myself.

"It is, however, important that people let me know what they enjoy and what they don't so I will be pleased to receive feedback."

Julien intends to appoint a second chef to share the responsibilities but says he has settled in quickly and is enjoying his new responsibilities so far.
