MEET OUR NEW SECRETARY
Jonathan Webb has started in his new role as Canterbury club secretary. He took up the appointment on August 2.
Gloucestershire-born Mr Webb (right) is 51 years old, married, and lives in Smeeth, near Ashford.
He spent most of his working life in the Army, serving for the majority of his 25 years as a Royal Military Police officer.
For the five years prior to joining the golf club, Jonathan was operations manager with a major Kent-based land and vegetation management company.
Widely travelled - his military career took him to Germany, Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, Belgium and the United States - Jonathan is a golfer with a handicap of 16, and a qualified RFU referee.
THIS YEAR'S CLUB CAPTAIN
Long-term Canterbury member Roy Baker (right) is this year's club captain. He took office at the club's agm in March.
Canterbury born and bred, Roy, 72, has lived in the city all his life. In his younger years, he played local football to a high level before joining the golf club in 1975.
A former committee member, Roy has a handicap of 13 and used this to good effect last year to win the Founders Plate.
Vice-captain for 2010/11 is Dave Tottman, who has served on the committee for many years in a variety of roles.
Cath Smith is the Ladies' Section captain, with Alison Kingston as her vice-captain. Dave Edmonds is the Men's Seniors captain, with Bill Clark his vice-captain.
