The Invicta League was founded in 2005 for clubs within the Kent and Sussex borders and Canterbury is proudly one of those founding members and as such sits on the committee to this day.
There are three divisions and each division has five teams which play each other on a home and away basis. Teams consist of 10 players and the format is four-ball betterball, with strokes taken from the lowest handicap player.
The maximum handicap is 18 and the minimum age limit is 18. Each team is allowed a maximum of three players with a handicap of 5 or less per fixture. There are 15 points available in each match, with three points for a win and one point for a half in each of the five games.
After the 2020 season was abandoned due to the pandemic, the league committee decided to promote and relegate two teams in each division going forward and, in 2021, the Canterbury side were promoted from Division 2, along with Prince's. We are delighted to be playing against some new clubs in 2022, including Redlibbets, Hever Castle and Chestfield.
This season sees the introduction of the inaugural Invicta Cup, a knockout tournament between all 15 clubs with the reigning league champions receiving two entries. The format is four-ball betterball and each club will put forward just one pair. In the first round, Canterbury will be up against Chartham Park with the match to be decided by May 29.
