The Kent Veterans' League was founded in 1978 but it was not until 2001 that Canterbury joined the competition.
Last year there were 49 participating clubs and these were divided by geographic location into eight groups, seven comprising six teams and one containing seven. Canterbury played in Group 6 with five rival clubs.
Ten players from opposing teams compete in a four-ball betterball matchplay format, the maximum handicap being 20. The winning pair earns two points, the losers receive nothing and there is a point apiece in the event of a halved game. The top team in each group qualifies for Kent Finals Day.
There is also a Kent Vets Knockout competition, run under the auspices of the Kent Golf Union. The format involves three pairs from opposing clubs playing a four-ball betterball.
The season has been abandoned this year because of the pandemic.
